Colorado Springs Walkways
Adding walkways to your yard or garden is a great way to improve your home’s curb appeal and direct guests towards your front door, patio or other point of interest. The first thing to consider when planning your walkway is the type of walkway that you want to install. Will your walkway be curved or straight? After this, you will need to decide what type of materials your walkway be comprised of. Do you want a stone walkway, a brick walkway, a concrete walkway or a gravel walkway?
walkway
With the experience of a knowledgeable landscaper, your imagination and some hard and focused work, your new walkway will not only be functional, but it will also add character and curb appeal to your home.
Instead of a boring walkway, why not turn your new walkway into a work of art?
Prepare and Research Your Walkway
When you first begin planning for your walkway, you want to take into account the design of your home and your landscape. When deciding on walkway materials think of how they will work with your landscape. Your landscape should feel like it is a part of your property rather than an afterthought. Visit a home improvement store and take a look at the different materials available to help you decide what will work bet.
Another way to help decide on the best walkway materials is to peruse home and gardening and DIY magazines and websites.
Laying Out Your Walkway
When you are designing your walkway path, you will need to determine where you walkway will begin and where it will end. You will also want to decide if you want a curved or straight path. Do you want your walkway to meander through your garden so your visitors can enjoy your gorgeous plants; however, keep your walkway away from trees as their roots can eventually damage your walkway? Once you have determined your walkway’s location, it is time to begin laying out your walkway.
straight walkway
If you are going to be installing a straight walkway, stand at one end of the path. Drive a stake into the ground and tie a string to it. Then, walk down your intended path and place a stake at the other end and tie a stake. Now, step back and look at your proposed walkway. Does it look the way you want it to? If so, walk back to the beginning of your path and drive a stake on the other side of the border and walk the line again. These strings will act as a guide while you are installing your walkway.
On a straight walkway, you can add an outline of bricks, pavers or stones to add interest to your walkway. Then, you can plant a low growing ground cover near the edges of your walkway to soften the edges and make your path more visually appealing. If you want a formal look, opt for brick pavers and tightly compacted plants. For a more whimsical look, use stones and wildflowers.
When choosing materials for walkways, use materials that are smooth to prevent falls. Examples of materials that can be used are concrete, tile, pavers and bricks. If you will be installing a secondary path to a shed or gazebo, you can use loose materials such as shredded bark, gravel or rock slabs.
If you will be installing a curved walkway, use a garden hose to lay out your walkway. Begin at one end and lay the garden hose out curving the walkway as you go. Once you have reached the other end of the walkway, step back and take a look at your path. If there are any corrections, make them now. Then, grab another hose and repeat the process, matching the curves you established. Keep the width through the length of your path consistent.
Walkways Colors
The color of your walkway is another way to help connect your walkway to your home. Choose a color that complements the color of your home and your landscape. Pavers and walkway materials are available in a variety of shades and colors.
Before you begin installing your walkway, walk along it to ensure that it is satisfactory. If there are any adjustments to be made, adjust them now. When you are happy with your layout, grab a can of spray paint and mark the walkway.
Walkways are a wonderful way to add interest and functionality to your landscape. Straight walkways are more formal looking while curved walkways are less formal.

Colorado Springs Artificial Turf
As an experienced artificial turf installer in Colorado Springs, Four Seasons Landscaping is dedicated to providing the best experience for homeowners wishing for a green yard without the need for any type of upkeep – including watering, mowing and weeding. If you truly want a beautiful and maintenance-free green yard experience, then artificial turf may just be the answer to your problem
Artificial Turf
Colorado offers year round sunshine, which makes outdoor space valuable. But this space needs to be functional, beautiful and easy to maintain.

Due to Colorado Spring’s dry climate, maintaining a turf lawn can be difficult and expensive. Irrigation, mowing, watering, fertilization, weeding and more are required sometimes weekly in order to maintain a healthy attractive lawn. Artificial Turf can save you time and money while offering a beauty all year long.
Four Seasons Landscaping turf is safe for children, pets, friends, family and you. It is easy to maintain and doesn’t require any chemical treatments, like real grass may, in order to stay attractive. Astroturf or other nylon based grasses can be rough and abrasive, but our turf is made with polyethylene fiber which is softer and more comfortable. It also doesn’t absorb heat like stone, brick or pavement, which means you can walk barefoot on it in the summer too, although it won’t be as cool as natural grass.
Four Seasons Landscaping’s synthetic turf can be installed anyplace natural grass grows or in extreme areas where it is too cold or too dry for regular grass. It can even be installed on up to a 40 degree incline and is custom fit to the space. It takes under four days to get installed, in most cases. And if you hate bugs in your grass, you will love that those creepy critters tend to avoid the turf because there is nothing organic for them to consume.
Artificial Turf Putting Greens
For all you avid golfers out there – an artificial grass putting green just may be the answer to your prayers!
Since Colorado Springs is one of the sunniest places in the US and has mild year-round temperatures, golfers naturally want to be able to play or practice some golf whenever time permits. Four Seasons Landscaping can design and install an artificial grass putting green right in your own backyard! Give us a call today at (719) 266-1141 or use the convenient form to the right and we’ll show you how easy and affordable your own putting green can be!
The artificial turf process is similar to the landscape design process. We begin with a free assessment to review your objectives, answer questions and create a design that will best fit your needs for years to come. Four Seasons Landscaping’s turf is priced by the square footage and additional supplies will be discussed with you in order to provide the best experience.

Why Gardening Is a Hot Hobby for 2020Gardening has become one of the hot hobbies in 2020 for a good reason
Why Gardening Is a Hot Hobby for 2020
Gardening has become one of the hot hobbies in 2020 for a good reason. More people have turned to a vegetarian or a vegan lifestyle. That’s because numerous studies have shown the many health benefits of switching to a plant based diet.
Fresh Vegetables Have Many Health Benefits
Health benefits such as improved cardiovascular health, lowered risks of developing certain diseases such as diabetes or certain types of cancer. Plus, this eating lifestyle boosts the immune system, can be helpful for losing weight and people report feeling better.
Growing your own food in a vegetarian garden is a great way to ensure that nothing toxic is used on your food. When you buy fruits and vegetables in a store, many of them, even organic ones, have contact with pesticides.
Not only that, but the food can come in contact with other material such as animal waste that can cause health issues. Besides wanting to ensure that they grow the best food for their way of eating, many people who follow a vegetarian or vegan diet want to do what’s best for nature.
Gardening Can Reduce Your Carbon Footprint
Vegetarians and vegans as well as people who follow other types of diets want to reduce their carbon footprint. Processing and then shipping animals for food is a huge energy drain.
Nature is often pushed back in order to make room for the needs of the animals that are used in the food supply chain. Soil is damaged from overcrowding animals and land is often cleared of trees to create places to hold animals.
Even the transporting of vegetables can cause tons of carbon dioxide to be released every day. A better way to eat as well as reduce the carbon footprint is to create a garden to grow your own food.
It’s not difficult to create a garden that’s good for you as well as helps lower your carbon footprint. To be successful with this type of garden, you’ll need to leave the soil as it is. When the soil is broken, it can mess up the natural balance.
Keep Those Nutrients!
Plus, it lets nutrients leach out. Instead, gardeners can follow a no-dig method such as by using straw bales or you can build a no-dig garden. This is done by using compost or the straw over your gardening area.
To aerate the soil, you let earthworms do the work because they won’t damage the soil. Fertilize the soil naturally using nutrients provided by organic material. An issue that can sometimes crop up in any garden are the pests that can harm food or plants.
Organic Gardening – No Pesticides
To prevent this, use natural pesticides. These consist of food items that you can eat but pests don’t like. Among them are garlic or certain essential oils, such as peppermint mixed with water. By starting a garden hobby, you can introduce a wide variety of healthy vegetables and fruits to your diet as well as help to protect the planet.
